The purpose of Espace Rousseau is to keep alive the thoughts and works of Rousseau and pay homage to one of the most enduring thinkers of all time. Jean-Jacques Rousseau was born on June 28, 1712, in the house where the Espace Rousseau is now located. Through a 25 minute audiovisual journey, visitors are able to trace the life of this famous writer, musician and philosopher of the Enlightenment. Rousseau is Geneva’s most famous citizen, and the centre presents the important themes which account for Rousseau’s universal fame and explain his thinking. Audio-guided visits are available in French, German, Italian, English, Japanese, Spanish and Chinese.
