Known internationally since the 19th century as a resort and spa, Engelberg today has 82 kilometres of ski-slopes, winter hiking paths, cross-country tracks and 24 different cable ways. The season lasts from early October until the end of May; the snow is sure and a round of the world ski jumping cup is held here. The skiing is split between two mountains and, for the advanced and intermediate skiers, the Titlis area is ideal with steep piste runs and excellent off-piste on the Laub. Brunni, on the opposite side of the valley, is more suitable for the inexperienced and beginners.
