Located in an area of some 1,200 square metres in the Berne History Museum (see separate entry), the Einstein Museum is dedicated to the life of the great German theoretical physicist and Nobel Prize winner, Albert Einstein (1879-1955). Opened originally as a temporary exhibition in 2005, it proved so popular that it became permanent. Einstein lived in Berne from 1903-1905 and you can also visit the house (see separate entry) where he lived. The museum displays original memorabilia, written records and has film documentaries on the man and his life. Einstein’s revolutionary theories are explained in a clear multilingual manner.
