Einsiedeln is a winter sports region and there is access to three areas which are suitable for both ski enthusiasts and snowboarders. Apart from Einsiedeln itself, Hoch Ybrig and Brunni-Mythen are within a short distance and all are in attractive alpine landscapes, 1,000 to 2,000 metres above sea level. Ybrig has the oldest ski school in Switzerland. Einsiedeln has a new all year round ski jump and there is a half-pipe and a fun park. Skating on the Sihlsee is possible in winter and there are also facilities for cross-country skiers.
