The Dörflihaus Museum is located in the lovely village of Springen, about 11 km southwest of Altdorf; it exhibits items relating to the history and culture of the area and will be of particular interest to motor racing enthusiasts. From 1922-1934 the international Klausen race took place in this area over a 21.5 km course and attracted the world’s best drivers, riders, cars and motorcycles of the time. The museum covers the history of this event. Another highlight is the important 1290 deed, sealed on behalf of the Uri canton, relating to the foundation of the Swiss confederation in 1291.
