Cossonay is a pretty Swiss town with a long history. In a document dated 1096, Uldric, Lord of Cossonay, donated the church to the convent of Romainmôtier. In the same document the castle is mentioned. Possession of this castle passed to the house of Savoy in 1406. A large part of the town was destroyed by fire towards the end of the 14th Century. In 1798, Cossonay became the capital of the new district of Cossonay. It is now a vibrant community with many attractions for tourists such as Roman ruins and medieval graves. There is even a cricket club in the town.
