The church of Cossonay, dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, is documented in 1096, although the bell tower was only constructed in 1407. Probably founded in first half of 12th Century is the Benedictine priory, which is mentioned for the first time in 1228. As with many religious houses of the time, it also served as a hospital. The mention of a “Jewish cemetery” in 1493 points to the existence of a Jewish community in the area.
