The Conservatory of Music in the famous Place de Neuve has hosted a stream of musicians, composers and orchestra leaders, including Hugo de Senger, Jaques-Dalcroze, Ernest Bloch, Henri Marteau and Ernest Ansermet. The Conservatory is a stunning Byzantine-style building, decorated with muses and antique divinities. Constructed between 1856 and 1858, two wings were added in 1920 to expand its facilities, which now comprise a large concert hall, an audition and choral room, as well as several classrooms. The building is one of Geneva’s landmarks.
