The Columns of Light Sculpture is a 2002 work by local sculptor Daniel Galley (b.1944) and is located in front of the emergency services department of the Cantonal Hospital- Bertigny II in Fribourg. The artist has said he was motivated by the hope, and the possibility of cure, presented by the hospital to its suffering patients and casualties. Accordingly, he designed a work which synthesizes the concept of energy, dynamism, force and light. The sculpture consists of nine columns combining stainless steel and acrylic glass, cylindrical at the base and square above.
