The Collegiate Church, dedicated to St Peter and St Stephen, dates back to 1424, but was substantially rebuilt in 1527 by Tomaso Rodari (1484-1526), who was also responsible for the Como Cathedral in Italy. It has a Renaissance façade of Castione stone which features a beautiful five metres in diameter, twelve-segment, rose window, and the town’s crest over the entrance. Highlights of the rich baroque interior include the marble high altar, decorated with a fine 1658 ‘Crucifixion’ by Simone Peterzano (c.1540-c.1596), the ‘scagiola’ pulpit and the angel musicians fresco, dating from around 1770 by Giuseppe Felice Orelli (1706-1776c).
