The Chicco d’Oro Coffee Museum in Balerna is a great place to visit for anyone who loves coffee. Historic and informative panels show production through the centuries and the techniques involved in coffee production. From Ethiopia, coffee spread through the Middle-East to the Mediterranean, reaching Constantinople in the 16th Century. The first coffee house was built in Vienna in the late 17th Century at the end of the Turkish siege of the state. The museum is open by appointment, offering guided tours showing all the phases of coffee production.
