The tiny village of Clugin is located at an altitude of 1,013 metres, 2.5 km north of Andeer (see separate entry) and 37 km southwest of Chur. Clugin, which was first documented in 1243 as de Cloduno, lies at the foot of the Schamserberg on the west side of the Hinterrhein River. The picturesque little Romanesque church, which has an idyllic site, has frescos in the choir section. Some 500 metres southwest of the village are the ruins of 13th century Cagliatscha castle.
