The Classical Antiquities Collection comprises 230 plaster casts, of all the most famous sculptures from Greek and Roman antiquity. Since 1994, it has been housed in a former paper warehouse and the industrial surroundings have influenced the manner in which the exhibits are displayed. The casts were originally made in 1806 for the City of Berne, for use in drawing classes and include the beautiful Cleopatra, Caesar, Aphrodite and the Trojan priest Laocoon wrestling with snakes. The collection is complemented by an impressive group of small original works of Classical art.
