The original Château d’Allaman was destroyed by fire in 1530. The castle was rebuilt, but subsequently altered during the 17th Century. In 1755 the castle was bought by Gaspard who entertained there many refugees and politicians, for example, Joseph Bonaparte, the ex-king of Spain. Extremely well preserved and maintained, the castle stands in the middle of a park. The interior of the building is equally interesting with many pieces dating back to the Middle Ages, in particular the south tower and the guard hall. There are also two charming reception rooms from the 17th and 18th Centuries.
