The Choleren Gorge (Cholerenschlucht) is located about 4 km northeast of Adelboden, about an hour’s walk from the village. The 100 metre long gorge is reached by a system of walkways and steps; there is an impressive waterfall and you can also take a dip in the mountain stream ‘Fountain of Youth’ at the end of the gorge. A local transport company Automobilverkehr Frutigen-Adelboden AG (+41 (0)33 673 74 74) offers a return journey. Visitors can combine a trip to Cholerenschlucht with a visit to Pochtenkessels - a deep rocky funnel at the junction of the Engstligen and Otterebach rivers.
