The south wing of Catelgrande Castle (see separate entry) houses an archaeological and history museum. Excavations in 1984-85 determined that the Castelgrande site was inhabited from the Neolithic period (5500-5000 BC) though to Roman times. The museum covers this human habitation, and the history of the castle, through to the present day. There is a wide range of audiovisual aids and other highlights include the collection of 16th century coins and the decorated ceilings of the Casa Ghiringhelli and the Albergo della Cervia, a former inn. The 19th century former arsenal, to the west of the museum, houses a restaurant.
