The Calvin Auditory is a small chapel close to Saint Peter’s Cathedral. Constructed in the 15th century on the site of earlier religious buildings, it is very severe and sober in the Gothic style. In the middle of the 16th century, both reformers and reformed, exiles and communities from many countries – French, Dutch, German, Italian and, especially, English – came to follow the teaching of the great names of the Reformation, Jean Calvin, John Knox and Théodore de Bèze. This tiny chapel has a long history with the movement and services are still held for the Church of Scotland and the Dutch and Italian Reformed Churches.
