The Cabinotiers of Geneva were jewellers, engravers, chasers, makers of precious chains, diamond setters and enamellers. Gilbert Albert decided to keep a record of their work and founded a museum in which the past achievements of these craftsmen could be admired. The Geneva Jewellers’ Museum (Musée des Cabinotiers Genevois) gives visitors the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of the craftsmen’s workshops, where cutters of precious stones, jewellers, chain makers, gem setters, hard stone workers and enamellists used to carry on their craft. Looking at the old-fashioned workplaces, visitors will be amazed at the primitive tools which created masterpieces of the jeweller’s art.
