The Cabinet des estampes (Print Room of the Art and History Museum) dates from 1886, when the municipal council elected to collect all the prints belonging to the city of Geneva and hold them as a collection under one roof. First housed in the Museum, this collection is now located next to the Old Town in the former Diodati-Plantamour mansion. The Geneva print collection is ranked among the fifty most important in the world. It contains an estimated 350,000 pieces covering five hundred years of history, including some items which are the only existing examples.
