The Bulle Museum, 6 km north of Gruyères, is devoted to the history, traditions and art of the region and is associated with the Tissot Collection, which includes work by artists such as Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot, Gustave Courbet and Nicolas Poussin. The museum is located in Bulle Castle and has an important collection of folk art with poyas, bells and cream spoons and similar objects. Life in the 16th-20th centuries is conveyed by reconstruction of mountain dairies and farmhouse rooms, costumes and photographs. In the grounds there is a monument to the Swiss lieder composer Abbe Joseph Bovet (1879-1951).
