Brunnen is a winter and summer holiday resort on lovely Lake Lucerne, located at the foot of Fronalpstock; it has a population of around 8,000. A cable-car visit to the Urmiberg peak should not be missed; at 1,140 metres above sea level it has stunning views. There is a summit restaurant and hikers can take the steep trail back to Brunnen; the more adventurous can try tandem paragliding. Other attractions include a memorial to the Swiss composer Othmar Schoeck (1886-1957) who was born here and the late Baroque parish church of St Leonhard in Ingerbohl, which was restored in 1978.
