The Bündner Art Museum is housed in the Villa Planta, built between 1874 and 1875 as a private residence by the architect Johannes Ludwig; the Sulser building was joined to it in 1981. The Grisons Art Society collection started in 1900 and today consists of some 6,000 art works, predominantly of Swiss or Grisons artists. These are from all areas of fine art and from the mid-18th century to the present. Apart from the permanent collection, there are about six specialist exhibitions per year. Artists represented include Angelika Kauffmann, Ferdinand Hodler, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and Augusto, Giovanni and Alberto Giacometti and many more.
