Situated about 13 km south of Brienz and 2,000 metres above sea level, Axalp is a small but romantic winter sports area. There are prepared slopes to suit both beginners and experts totalling 20 km and ‘Axiland’ which is a children’s ski paradise. The slopes are serviced in season by three t-bars, a three person chair lift and two free children’s ski lifts. The various activities possible include winter hiking trails, sledding routes, a cross-country circuit, a marked snowshoe trail and night skiing; there is also a ski-school. In summer it is still a great place for hiking.
