The Roman Arena in Avenches has been brought back to life with an annual rock concert and an opera festival. Rock Oz’Arčnes stands for rock, pop, electronic, funk and hip-hop music played in the roman amphitheatre. It is the majestic aura of this historical site that draws both artists and public, year after year. It is also the starting point for the annual Avenches parade. Marching bands leave from the arena and parade through the old town. Avenches has long been linked to its Roman past, but thanks to the festivals, the arena is once more the focal point of the town.
