The Ariana Museum of Ceramics and Glass, built by Gustave Revilliod (1817-1890), houses prestigious collections of ceramics and glass. Devoted entirely to kiln craft, it is the only museum of its kind in Switzerland, and is one of the most important in Europe. There are more than 20,000 objects, covering seven centuries of ceramics and glass. Located on the grounds adjoining the United Nations, the museum contains all manner of kiln crafts including stoneware, porcelain, pottery, and glass from Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The neo-baroque and neo-classical building is outstanding and should be on every visitor’s must see list.
