The Animal and Leisure Park, which opened in 2003 on the site of an old gunpowder factory, has much to offer the visitor. More than 60 different and mostly indigenous animal species can be seen; there is a children’s playground with a climbing tower and slide, covered trampoline, electric cars, boats and a pond with ducks and geese. There is a self-service restaurant and two museums, one devoted to sewing machines and the other to gunpowder production. This is all set out on a four hectare (about ten acre) site where the tall old trees have been preserved.
