Amden, about 18 km northeast of Glarus, offers winter sports for the whole family. For skiing and snow boarding enthusiasts there are 25 km of downhill pistes, served by a system of six ski and chair lifts. The ski carousel Arvenbüel is ideal for beginners, whilst the Mattstock side and the Bärenfall will delight the more experienced; cross country skiers have a variety of tracks with great views of Lake Walen. The ski carousel Arvenbüel offers a number of great sledge runs and also has a 120-metre long tube run, offering great fun for young and old.
