Located in the adjoining wing to the H R Giger museum complex (see separate entry), the Alien Museum Bar was opened in 2003. Han Ruedi Giger is recognized as one of the world’s foremost artists of Fantastic Realism and the set designer of the film ‘Alien’. The existing 400-year-old gothic setting for the bar is emphasised by Giger’s design, which recalls the story of Jonah and the whale, creating the feeling of being inside a fossilized, prehistoric beast. Skeletal arches cover the vaulted ceiling and the bar is decorated with models of spinal chord-like skeletons; you won’t forget your visit.
